Lynchburg, Virginia is a beautiful city located just east of the Blue Ridge Mountain and is also the home of WWII hero Desmond T. Doss. Doss, who inspired the film, Hacksaw Ridge, was drafted by the military in 1942. However, his beliefs forbade him from killing another human or carrying a weapon. In fact, during the war his only weapons were his Bible and his faith in God. To honor his beliefs while still serving in the military, Doss became a medic.
